Already December!!

Quick update:

Unfortunately we took our turn being the sickies for a week...even little Eden...she got it the worst. It was a pretty bad little bug with fevers, yucky cough, etc. Some type of bronchitis, I guess. It's so hard when you're feeding a baby and Max is downstairs with a massive fever, laying on the couch coughing and then puking.....thankfully we were all better before turkey day.

Thanksgiving was wonderful...who doesn't love to eat tons of yummy food! We spent the day with some of our great friends. Here is a pic of the indians going on their turkey hunt after dinner. (which provided some great adult conversation time!)

Their Indian names were "Running Horse" and "Big Bear"...
We definitely have a lot to be thankful for. Here's a fun tradition for anyone who wants to start one...On Nov. 1st you get a posterboard and before anyone leaves for the day, you all have to draw a picture of something you're thankful for, and you can't have any duplicates. We got this idea from a great family in our ward and I kept forgetting to start it. But it was fun to do for a few days, anyway.

I took advantage of black Friday. Eden happened to wake up at 3:45 AM, so I fed her and left...crazy. Oh well. It's nice to get good deals, but it would be even nicer if you had money to spend in the first place! :) I just took over the budget and I liked it a lot better when I was naive about the whole thing. Anyway, that night we watched Santa fly in (or rather be boosted up by a fire truck) to miraculously light up a huge Christmas tree. I love watching how excited the kids get for things like that... They have loved decorating for Christmas.

And here are a couple pics of our first snow fall...Mike actually took the boys to what they call a "hill" back here. Mike said Caleb went about 3 feet after he pushed him, but the kids love it. Funny thing is that this 15% grade hill gets packed with people!! Oh well...we can't all have mountains.

Our little Max is the challenge right now...oh my goodness. Mike came home from the library with a book entitled "Parenting for the Strong-willed Child". The sweet boy will not say "sorry" to save his life. He stayed in his room for over an hour THREE days in a row because he would not come out and say sorry. He ended up falling asleep every day....obviously that is NOT the right parenting solution for him...oh boy. Then he wakes up about EIGHT times a night wanting something. I finally layed down the law after I had given him about 5 drinks...I left the cup by his bed and he would NOT pick it up. He wanted me to hand it to him. At 3:00 AM, I finally gave in, but he wouldn't take it, but would scream when I put it down! STUBBORN!!! Then when he knows he's been crying for an hour for a lame reason, he'll inevitably start crying, "Owie" and make up an 'owie' on his knee...unbelievable. That's just a tiny example!!

The good news is, that last night, we put all 3 kids down at 7 and NO ONE woke up until 6:30!! We actually felt rested! I'm not counting on that happening again in the near future.

Max has been better the last couple of days...we'll hope he is turning the corner!!

That's all for now....we're all enjoying Mike being home as much as he is!! I feel like this is the calm before the storm. I'm going to go into withdrawals when residency starts. It's so nice having all of the tests over with! T minus 15 days until we hear from the Air Force! The 17th is a BIG day for us....

Great post! I love the little indians. You are very creative. Glad you had a good holiday. Sorry to hear about the sickies, Yuck! Good Luck with your kiddo, I feel your pain. My little mama is the most stubborn child I have met. It has honesly taken years to get past certain tantrums. Just don't be too hard on yourself. I hope you get good news on the 17th!! Luv ya, Becky

I can't believe you get to find out where you are going this month! I am so jealous.

I have decided that children were sent here to humble us. I was such a great "Mom" before I had any kids. It is so much harder than I ever expected! I guess that is what makes it worth it.

Oh that little Max. Some might say, "That will be a great quality when he is an adult!" But they forget to tell you what to do with that "great" quality in the meantime!!! Just love them I guess! I bet that full nights sleep was great! That will have to last you awhile, but I'm jealous! Glad you all got feeling better! It is not fun being sick. Hopefully now you are all done for the winter...I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! (and us too!!)

Hi Leanna,
I found your blog on Heidi V's. When reading about your little Max and the challenge he is being lately, I was glad to hear that our Sydney isn't alone in her stubborness! I could have described her verbatim! How frustrating. Good luck! It's good to see how your family is doing.
Take care, Stephanie Metcalf

Oh Leanna. Too bad you got a child just like Mike was when he was little, huh?:) Too bad you couldn't have gotten a perfect "Tara." ha ha Good luck with that. I, obviously, have zero answers since Tayson's still happy once he poops, sleeps, and eats!:)

i love that it's, like you said, 'feels like we're reading about our own lives!' you do gotta love excitement over a little 'hill' :)

Your kids are so cute! Even if they are a bit naughty sometimes :). I wish you would come move back and be closer to us. My kids need some cousins to play with and it doesnt look like my siblings are going to help me out any time soon! Miss you guys!
