The "Potty"

I can't believe that Caleb was completely potty trained at Max's current age (2 and 1/2). Max just doesn't have the drive yet. I've had the potty out and we've watched videos, read stories, observed plenty of demonstrations from Caleb. Finally, the other day while Caleb was at preschool, he consented to actually sitting on it WITHOUT a diaper on this time and stayed there for a whole minute! Then he jumped up and said, "It's not working!"

I let him run around a bit without a diaper on while I started the laundry and when I rounded the corner, I found him in this get-up:

Gotta love nudy trudy with cowboy boots and a baseball hat playing with his toys. :)

Caleb and Max both pick up songs so fast. They'll start singing and sometimes we don't even know where the song came from. So with the potty movie, there were plenty of songs. We were in the van and Caleb starts singing, "I use my potty when I have to..." and Max chimes in, "poop!" Mike and I got the giggles so bad. Then Rascal Flatts came on and both of them were singing full-heartedly...words, na-na's, ooo's, and all. Mike and I were rolling!

Speaking of videos, Caleb has also taken up some good imitations. The other day he stretched forth his hand and said, "If I command the waters to be dry land, it would be dry land." (thanks to Living Scriptures videos :)) He makes a pretty cute Nephi.

As for our week, Mike is in the middle of his OB rotation and having a good experience thus far. Although he has no spare time on this one. Oh well. Thus far he hasn't actually "caught" a baby but has witnessed several deliveries/c-sections. It's great that he can research all of my pregnancy quirks and tell me exactly what it is. I've actually been contracting quite a bit in the last week, but nothing that is regular or consistent. We'll see what the doc has to say in a couple days.

We are going through the same potty training dilema with Carter. Ty was easier too. We just have our fingers crossed that he's done by September so he can go to preschool.

If it makes you feel any better, Jessica is NOT even close. She does think it is fascinating to watch the toilet flush...does that count?? And the other day she was pooping and said "poop"! That was big for us, to even have her recognize and connect to what she was doing! I don't even want to start! AAHH!
